  Program Description It is estimated that nearly 17.6 million youth in the U.S. need a mentor each year: 14.6 million of those youth will not have a mentor this year. The goal of our program is to provide quality mentors to best,safe school practice schools to enrich the lives of youth across the Austin Independent School District. Mentors will help their student achieve goals and build self confidence and self-esteem which can translate into academic success.Mentors meet with students for 30 to 45 minutes once a week every week for the academic year. Mentors may meet with a student in any school with AISD which allows a mentor to transfer with their student to a new school and transition through middle and high school.
